Mokena Awards $472K Contract for Countryview Estates Storm Sewer Project
The Village of Mokena is moving forward with a major infrastructure project, awarding a contract worth over $472,000 to a local company for the Countryview Estates Storm Sewer Replacement Project.
The Village Board voted unanimously on July 14 to award the bid to Arriba Construction & Supply of Mokena in the amount of $472,141.17. The board also authorized a construction contingency of up to $27,858, keeping the total potential cost within the $500,000 budgeted for the project in the Fiscal Year 2026 budget.
The project addresses necessary repairs in the Countryview Estates subdivision, located between Interstate 80 and 187th Street, just west of Wolf Road.
Public Works Director Dan Peloquin explained that the work is a continuation of efforts that began in 2020, when the village repaired a portion of the large-diameter storm pipe running through the backyards of homes on Hummingbird Lane.
As part of that initial plan, the rest of the subdivision’s storm sewer system was televised in 2024 to assess its condition ahead of planned road resurfacing. “The results of that inspection indicated that further storm sewer replacement is required,” Peloquin stated in a memo to the board.
The village received two bids for the project following a pre-bid meeting on June 5. Arriba Construction & Supply submitted the lowest responsible bid.
“Arriba Construction has conducted storm sewer and similar type repairs for the village in the recent years and is a reputable contractor that we are comfortable and confident with,” Peloquin said.
The project is crucial for preventing future drainage issues and ensuring the longevity of the forthcoming road improvements in the neighborhood.
