Mokena Park District Bids Farewell to 12-Year Fitness Manager Rachel Bauer
The Mokena Park District is bidding farewell to Rachel Bauer, the longtime Manager of Fitness Center Operations at The Oaks, who is leaving after nearly 12 years of service. Bauer’s departure was met with a chorus of praise and well-wishes from district leadership at the July 25 board meeting.
Bauer has accepted the Superintendent of Recreation position with the Village of Palos Heights Parks and Recreation Department. Her last day with Mokena was July 28.
Executive Director Greg Vitale congratulated Bauer on her new position and highlighted her impact on the district. “Rachel has done some wonderful things with the Park District over the last 12 years and was instrumental in the growth of the facility,” Vitale said. “She will be missed.”
Following the meeting, Vitale invited attendees to stay for cake in honor of Bauer’s farewell.
Board members echoed Vitale’s sentiments. “Good Luck Rachel!” said Commissioner Bob Lindbloom, thanking her for her work. Commissioner Dan Gilbert congratulated Bauer and noted that he enjoyed attending his first budget meeting with her. President Steve Jacobson also offered his thanks, stating, “Getting to know her over the years was nice. Good Luck in your new position.”
Commissioners Jeff Apel, Mary Louise Knoerzer, Mike Gandy, and Kathryn O’Connor also wished her the best in her new role.
The district has begun the search for her replacement. The Manager of Fitness Center Operations and Rentals position has been posted on the Illinois Park and Recreation Association job board.
