Mokena Village Board Meeting | September 8, 2025

Article Summary: The Mokena Village Board approved two contracts totaling over $292,000 for its Fiscal Year 2026 street improvement and maintenance programs. The funds will cover an asphalt sealant application on various roadways and engineering services to oversee a larger construction project.

Mokena Road Contracts Key Points:

  • A contract for $113,731 was awarded to Denler, Inc. for the application of HA5 High Density Mineral Bond sealant.

  • A second contract for up to $178,365 was awarded to Baxter & Woodman, Inc. for construction-related engineering services.

The Mokena Village Board on Monday, September 8, 2025, moved forward with its annual infrastructure maintenance by awarding two key contracts for its Fiscal Year 2026 Street Improvements program.

The first contract, for $113,731.06, was awarded to Denler, Inc. of Joliet for the village’s High Density Mineral Bond (HA5) Program. Public Works Director Dan Peloquin explained that the HA5 asphalt sealant is a protective pavement surface application designed to extend the life and quality of roadways. This year’s program will cover approximately 18,134 square yards of roadway and parking lot areas, including the parking lot of the new police station. The cost of adding the police station lot will be offset by savings from the FY 2026 Roads project budget.

The board also authorized a professional engineering services agreement with Baxter & Woodman, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $178,365. The firm will provide construction-related services, including project management, site supervision, and material testing, for the FY 2026 Street Improvements Project, which was awarded on August 25. Peloquin noted the cost represents about 5.5% of the total construction contract, consistent with past projects. The services will be provided locally from Baxter & Woodman’s Mokena office.

Both contracts were unanimously approved by the board.
