The Mokena Fire Protection District Board of Trustees on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, approved the purchase of a modern inventory system to streamline daily equipment and vehicle checks across its three stations.
The board unanimously approved a five-year subscription to PSTrax, a specialized inventory management system, at an annual cost of $5,500. The move comes after two separate programs the district had been using for free for many years became outdated and were no longer offered without cost.
According to district documents, the previous systems were “no longer conducive to our needs.” After researching three different inventory platforms, the district found PSTrax would support all its needs within a single program.
The new system will be used to track the daily, weekly, and monthly readiness checks for fire stations and vehicles. It also includes a ticketing feature that allows firefighters to report a deficiency found during their shift, ensuring prompt attention and repair. The investment is intended to improve efficiency and accountability in maintaining the district’s emergency resources.
The motion to approve the purchase was made by Trustee Craig Warning and seconded by Trustee Ken Blank.
