Trustee Vacancy Interviews
Executive Director Cathy Palmer announced that there are two applicants for the open trustee position on the board. Palmer requested to schedule interview dates with the candidates. During the closing comments, Palmer noted that both candidates are “great for the position.”
Shade Structure Update
The board received an update on the project to install a shade structure on the southeast lawn area. The library currently has three proposals but is waiting for additional quotes. Vice President Kathy Lewandowski requested information regarding the warranty of the potential shades, and Palmer agreed to provide those details.
State Standards Review
The board reviewed the updated “Illinois Standards for Public Libraries,” which are used for the Per Capita Grant application. Palmer reported that the Mokena library meets all basic standards and often reaches “middle and above” levels. Trustee Erin Minh commended the library for working toward higher standards rather than doing the minimum.
Friends of the Library
Director Palmer expressed gratitude to the Friends of the Library organization, noting they recently hosted another successful book sale.
