The Mokena Community Park District is finalizing a comprehensive Master Plan that will guide its operations and improvements through 2030, Executive Director Greg Vitale reported during the board meeting on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
Vitale told the board that attention is now shifting toward implementation. Staff members are currently applying the plan to create specific goals and objectives for the next five years and are establishing a timeline for achieving them.
“Work on these priorities began midway through the planning process, but will continue to ramp up as the plan reaches completion,” Vitale stated in his report.
The board held a special meeting on November 19 to discuss the draft Master Plan provided by Tod Stanton of Design Perspectives. During Tuesday’s meeting, Commissioner Steve Jacobson praised the process, noting the board had a “really good planning committee meeting” and that he looks forward to rolling into 2026 with the new objectives.
Board President Kathryn O’Connor echoed those sentiments, noting that she is excited to discuss the plan further.
