Mokena Community Public Library District Meeting | December 16, 2025
The Mokena Community Public Library District Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, to approve the annual financial audit and seat a new trustee. The meeting was led by President Joseph Cirelli in the absence of Executive Director Cathy Palmer. The board focused heavily on financial housekeeping and procedural appointments to close out the calendar year.
Software Transition Announced:
Deputy Director Luke Surdel announced that the library will begin transitioning away from the “Boarddocs” platform starting in January 2026. The administration plans to send out communications regarding how the public and trustees can access meeting packets online following the change.
Resolution on Recordings:
The board approved Resolution 375-2025, which authorizes the destruction of audio or video recordings of closed session minutes. However, Deputy Director Surdel clarified that the vote was largely procedural, noting that “there were no recordings at this time” to actually destroy.
Monthly Bills Approved:
Trustees reviewed and approved the monthly check register totaling $89,002.72. Treasurer Alvin Kempf, Jr. noted that the expenses consisted of standard payments the library makes on a monthly basis.
Community Engagement:
In her written report, Executive Director Cathy Palmer praised staff and family members for their successful participation in this year’s Christmas parade. Additionally, trustees recognized Lauren Tuider for creating a “Year in Review” video for the library’s social media channels.
