Meeting Summary and Briefs: Mokena Community Park District for December 16, 2025
Mokena Community Park District Meeting | December 16, 2025
The Mokena Community Park District Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, to finalize end-of-year financial business and approve capital purchases. The meeting featured a presentation of the annual audit, which received a clean opinion, and the approval of the 2025 tax levy. Additionally, the board approved the 2026 meeting schedule and entered an executive session to discuss real property and personnel matters.
2026 Meeting Schedule:
The board approved the meeting dates for the 2026 calendar year. Regular meetings will continue to be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Walnut Room at The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center. Most meetings are scheduled for the fourth Tuesday of the month, with the exception of December 2026, which will be held on the third Tuesday.
Winter Weather Delays:
Executive Director Greg Vitale reported that early winter weather has impacted operations at Yunker Farm. Scheduled holiday light installation on structures and trees was jeopardized after late-November snowfall created unsafe conditions for crews.
WiFi Upgrades at The Oaks:
To improve connectivity, the district has upgraded internet services at The Oaks. A new “fitness-only” WiFi network is now available exclusively to members in the fitness area, offering faster speeds than the previous shared guest network.
Holiday Events:
Staff reported successful holiday programming. The “Holiday Lights” contest had eight registered houses, and 20 children signed up to receive letters from Santa. The Red Barn has been decorated with a 12-foot tree and wreaths, and the “Jolly Jammies Holiday Movie Night” on December 5 was nearly sold out.
