Health Department Plans Back-to-School Fair July 12
The Will County Health Department will host a Back-to-School Health Fair Saturday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Health Center, 1106 Neal Ave., Joliet.
The event will provide school and sports physicals for $35 for uninsured families, dental school exams for $50, and various immunizations. Most insurance plans, including Medicaid, are accepted, and no families will be turned away due to inability to pay.
Fifteen community partners will participate, providing games, information tables and resources for families. Appointments for physicals, immunizations and dental services will be available during the event on a first-come, first-served basis.
The health department has expanded immunization services in partnership with local school districts after learning about high numbers of children excluded from school due to incomplete vaccinations. The department conducted eight vaccination clinics with Joliet District 86, administering 102 vaccinations to kindergarten and sixth-grade students.
Families seeking appointments for the health fair should call 815-727-8670 and inform the receptionist they are calling for the Back-to-School Health Fair date. Regular appointments for school physicals, vaccines and dental services are available year-round at the Community Health Center.
