The Village of Frankfort Board leveraged a significant budget surplus at its August 18 meeting, approving the transfer of over $19 million into capital funds designated for future infrastructure, equipment, and street projects. In other major business, the board took steps to improve pedestrian safety and trail connectivity by approving a $77,500 contract with Robinson Engineering, Ltd. to design two new multi-use paths. One path will be located in Main Park, while the other will connect neighborhoods along Pfeiffer Road to the village’s wider trail system. Bills Approved Totaling Nearly $795,000
The Village Board approved the payment of bills totaling $795,444.52. As presented by Trustee Eugene Savaria, the disbursements included $507,659.69 from the General Corporate Fund, $67,948.60 from the Capital Development Fund, $167,786.23 from the Sewer and Water Operations and Maintenance Fund, and $52,050 from the Sewer and Water Extension Fund. The payments cover a range of village operational costs and contractual services.

57th Annual Frankfort Fall Festival Details Announced
Mayor Keith Ogle announced details for the upcoming 57th annual Frankfort Fall Festival. Festivities begin with a carnival on Wednesday, August 27. The Frankfort Lions Club will host its “Wurst Fest” on Thursday, August 28. The main festival, featuring over 300 artisan booths, runs from Saturday, August 30, through Monday, September 1. The parade steps off at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, with the theme “Fall into the Beat – A Celebration of Music Through the Decades.”

Upcoming Community Events
The village will host a complimentary Senior Breakfast for residents 62 and older on Wednesday, September 17, at 8 a.m. at the Village Administration Building; registration is required. The final Concerts on the Green for the season is Sunday, August 24, featuring the Outcast Jazz Band. Cruisin’ Frankfort continues Monday evenings through September 22, and the Frankfort Country Market runs Sunday mornings through October 26, though both will be suspended during Fall Fest weekend.

Board Recognizes Community Figures
Trustee Adam Borrelli offered condolences to the family of Ralph Eisenbrandt, a longtime Deputy Chief with the Frankfort Fire Department and founding president of the Frankfort Historical Society, calling him a “legend.” Borrelli also congratulated Dr. Brad Katsman of Sports and Spine on celebrating 30 years in business in Frankfort, noting his positive impact on the community and many local families.

Village Schedules Storm Debris Pickup
Mayor Keith Ogle reminded residents that village crews would be conducting a special branch pickup following recent storms. He advised residents to place branches at the curb with the stem side facing the street for collection.

Next Village Meetings Scheduled
Village Clerk Katie Schubert announced the next regular Village Board meeting will be held on Monday, September 8, at 7 p.m. The next Committee of the Whole meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10, at 5:30 p.m. Both meetings will take place at Village Hall.
